Tigers down, Lions up next...finals today at 1pm in New Haven

HMT (Harvard Men's Tennis) Downs Tigers 6-1

Sunday, Feb. 14th at 12:30pm at Yale Tennis Center

The Crimson defeated the Tigers 6-1 yesterday at Yale and will face
the Columbia Lions today at 1pm in the finals of the ECAC tournament.
Princeton came out of the gates quickly and managed to wrest the
doubles point from a surprised Crimson.  The Tigers were more
aggressive at net and had the Crimson on their heels for much of the
start.  Schultz and Omodele-Lucien lost 8-5 at #1 while Felton and
Nguyen won at #2 to knot up the score.  The match came down to Tchan
and Chijoff-Evans at #3 who fell in a tie-breaker after failing to convert several key opportunities, including two match points.

With Princeton missing their top singles player due to injury, the Crimson didn't allow the Tigers any
breathing room.  After the break, Harvard turned up the heat and attacked, winning
all six singles matches, five of the six matches in straight sets.
Chijoff-Evans continued his winning ways at the top spot while Felton,
who moved up to #2, won again with his brand of slices, rips and dips.
Omodele-Lucien escaped with a victory at #3 in a match tiebreak (played in lieu of a third set, as the match was already clinched).  The three freshmen,
Tchan, Shultz and Nguyen, all won in straights at #4, 5 and 6
respectively.

Today, Harvard squares off at 1pm in the finals against Columbia in
contest between the top two teams in the league.  We are looking
forward to wrestling with the Lions after slaying the Tigers.

(Editor's Note from Dave Fish): At this point, I had to expurgate Andrew's last line referencing New Haven in order to get a visa to visit again in the future...

Possible new ending, probably to be commented upon by readers who have are tired of watching Luge runs that look the same except the score and one foot moving...
