MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - Capping off an outstanding weekend for the Harvard men's tennis team, Henry Von Der Schulenburg claimed victory in the singles final at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Monday. The sophomore defeated nationally ranked Lodewijk Weststrate of USC in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Von Der Schulenburg also competed in the doubles final with partner Harry Walker, where the duo secured a second place finish, falling to the team of De Jonge/Carlsson from Pepperdine, 6-2.    Von Der Schulenburg played a herculean nine matches over the weekend, winning eight of the nine, going five for five in singles play and three for four in doubles. Due to the tournament's classification as a gold tier tournament, winning the Milwaukee Tennis Classic has secured him a wild card spot at the 2021 ITA Fall National Championships this November.    "It was a great weekend, I think we are all grateful to be able to come here," said Von Der Schulenburg. "It was a really nice club - the volunteers were very nice and made the tournament easier for us. It was pretty exhausting, because we had to start at 8 a.m. and had to play 3-4 matches a day. But just being out here with the team and with Sanam, it really gave us motivation to fight, and was a great way to start the season."    The weekend was marked with multiple memorable performances from the Crimson. Brian Shi knocked off the No. 1 seed in the tournament and No. 24 nationally ranked Ronnie Hohmann of LSU in the quarterfinals. Additionally, Shi made it to the semifinals in doubles play with his partner Ronan Jachuk, and was awarded the sportsmanship award at the end of the tournament.    The Crimson accomplished this against stiff competition, going up against the likes of Pepperdine, USC and Notre Dame, all schools that appeared in the NCAA DI Men's Tennis Championship last spring.    "I was just super proud with how the guys competed," stated associate head coach Sanam Singh. "The professionalism they showed on the court was incredible and the attitude was great. Crimson "Chowdah" Fest 9/24-26 Our big Fall event, "Chowdah" Fest, is this weekend, Friday, September 24th – Sunday, September 26th during the Laver Cup in Boston. If you are local or coming to visit the pro tennis, please stop by the Beren Tennis Center. This year's "Chowdah" Fest features some of the top teams in the country, including the defending National Champions Florida Gators, as well as powerhouses like Michigan, Cal-Berkeley and Arizona State in a flighted singles and doubles event. Here are the tentative match times for the weekend for HMT: Friday, 9/24 at 2:30pm Saturday, 9/25 at 2:30pm Sunday, 9/26 at 1pm Fans are welcome. Tennis, Business and Career Lessons Harvard Men's Tennis hosted several Zoom webinars this past year including "Tennis, Business and Career Lessons" with Jorge Paulo Lemann '61, Jan Leschly P' 90 moderated by Peter Lattman '92. Jorge Paulo and Jan regaled us with great stories of their business successes and failures as well as providing practical tips on how to interview. Before going on to found 3G Capital, did you know that JP Lemann played Davis Cup for both Switzerland and Brazil?
