Dear Crimson Netters, Harvard beats Penn and Princeton HMT resumed its winning ways by defeating Penn and #37 Princeton over the weekend at the Murr. The Princeton match was another classic, down-to-the-wire battle that has typified college tennis this year. The Tigers quickly grabbed the lead by capturing the doubles point and put the Crimson in the unenviable position of having to win four of the six singles matches. The freshmen, Andy Zhou and Chris Morrow, responded to the call by winning at #5 and #6 respectively in straight sets to put Harvard up 2-1. Meanwhile, the top four singles matches went to third sets. Sophomore Kenny Tao (#3) and Senior Kelvin Lam (#4) would fall in the final frame while senior, captain Nicky Hu (#1) would rebound to win 6-4 in the third. With the score knotted at 3-3, it was up to junior Sebastian Beltrame once again (he had been the last on court against Columbia only one week ago). With the fans in a frenzy and both teams lining the court, Sebastian was serving 5-3 for the match, only to get broken on a no-add deuce point/match point! He was able to steady his nerves on the change-over and break serve right back for the win. You can watch the video highlights of the weekend and read the full recap of the match against Princeton. Freshmen Perspective: Christopher Morrow Watch Chris speak about his freshmen year experience and learn about his transition from a small village of 400 people in Tewkesbury, England to Harvard.
